Interlink Launches “UltraDSL” With Download Speeds Over 10 Times Faster Than T1, At Lower Prices

TORONTO, Ontario – April, 2004 – Interlink Technologies, a leading provider of collocation and connectivity support to major organizations, today announced the launch of the first ULTRADSL™ service in Canada offering Internet upload speeds of 1.6 to 4Mbps and download speeds of 8 to 20 Mbps – over 10 times faster than traditional T1 lines – starting at only $495.00 per month.

The new service is available initially to companies and organizations in Ontario and Quebec . It is designed for customers needing increased capacity for bandwidth-intensive web applications such as voice over I/P, video conferencing, high-traffic web servers, large file transfers, WAN interoffice connections and for use as a low-cost backup to existing Internet connectivity.

“Many businesses today need greater connectivity and bandwidth, but don't necessarily have a bigger budget for T1 lines and fibre optic solutions,” according to Dennis Mansillo, Sales and Marketing Director for Interlink. “That's where ULTRADSL comes in. It's a very cost-efficient solution for bandwidth intensive needs such as linking multiple users between offices, voice over IP, streaming video, or simply as a reliable back-up to what you have now.”

ULTRADSL uses an exclusive and proprietary solution to double or even quadruple the performance of traditional DSL Internet service. It is based on tested and proven DSL technology and offers speed and reliability with built-in redundancy that is scalable from 8 to 20Mbps download speeds, with upload speeds to 4Mbps and beyond.

“Small businesses that run their own servers, schools, institutions – anyone who needs a faster, reliable connection to the Internet – would benefit from this,” Mansillo said. “Typically, these organizations start with DSL. Their next step up would be T1. That would give them 1.5 Mbps of outbound traffic and cost anywhere from $700 per month and up. If you need more than a T1 connection, the next practical choice is a fiber optic connection, which is going to run approximately $1500-$1600 a month, plus whatever your bandwidth is on top of that. So very quickly, you can start spending several thousand dollars a month on bandwidth. ULTRADSL offers comparable performance for a lot less money,” Mansillo said.

ULTRADSL works over conventional phone lines with no additional lines, hardware or cables needed. Interlink also provides complete installation services for those who prefer to outsource this function.
